Human Resource Budgets

In Oracle HRMS, we can define non-monetary budgets, such as headcount or full-time equivalents (FTEs) that are based on organization’s work structures. Budgets can be defined against an organization, job, grade, position, or any combination of these. You can monitor the budgets by comparing the budget values with actual values derived from employee assignments.

For example, you might define a headcount budget of two for the position Marketing Manager. The variance of the actual value from the budget value depends on the number of employees assigned to that position at any time. A negative variance indicates a vacancy.

Salary Budgeting

Using Oracle HRMS, you can set up HR budgets for headcounts and full time equivalents(FTE) at various levels of the organization. Most enterprises need to add salary estimates to these headcount budgets to provide salary budgets. Oracle HRMS provides you with the key information you require to define your salary budgets:

Payroll KPIs – Part I

As a Payroll stakeholder, one is responsible for managing what is the greatest cost of one’s organizations and with that comes the continued attention of Finance, C-Level Management and the Board.  You are being monitored and usually measured on cost and efficiency and you are always at risk of being outsourced to a more viable option.
If you are not already measuring, monitoring and acting upon Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in your payroll service, you need to start NOW!!

Superannuation

A system where money is placed in a fund to provide for a person's retirement.” This is how Australian Taxation Office defines Superannuation

How does it work?

If you work for a company or organisation, your employer must pay money into a super account in your name, which is then managed by a super fund. The formula used is currently 9.5% of your income, including bonuses, commissions and loadings. This is called the Super Guarantee and it's the law.

Why Oracle EBS Projects Fail? and How to Fix Them - Part III

8. Lack of Adequate Testing

Problems will always pop up if you haven’t adequately tested not only the completion of your project, but also the use cases of those who will be interacting with the software on a daily and periodic basis moving forward. Be sure to build a test plan that includes both the day-to-day activities and the periodic activities – financial reporting, currency revaluation, patch application, and so forth – so that ongoing product support and success isn’t compromised. Make sure that your testing includes reports, upstream and downstream interfaces, customizations, enhancements, and workflows. Be sure to budget for testing resources in your up-front planning and resource allocations as well.

4. The Right Resources Aren’t Assigned or Available

It’s difficult to participate in a project and also do your regular job. It sometimes seems that a few people in the organization are asked to do everything. Be realistic when assigning people to different project responsibilities and allocating their time, and recognize when external skills would be more efficient even though the cost might be higher. For example, hiring resources for the upgrade to R12 may seem more expensive than having your DBA try to do it internally, but consultants who perform upgrades day-after-day develop a variety of “lessons-learned” and ways to streamline the process. Additionally, it does not make sense to have your internal DBA spend months on learning to do something that he or she will never need to do again. The time could be better spent on other projects.

Why Oracle EBS Projects Fail? and How to Fix Them - Part I

The start of a new year is often a good time to reassess the status of your Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environment, and how effective its current structure is to your company. As a mission-critical system, considerable time and attention should be devoted to maintaining, improving, and optimizing EBS. While most tasks are relatively routine in nature, sometimes — either due to organizational changes, updates in management and regulatory reporting requirements, or the need to upgrade — a change is needed in your EBS system that requires the initiation of a more complex project.

Even with the best of intentions, planning, and hard work, complex EBS projects can fail for a variety of reasons. Whether you’re planning for an R12 upgrade, completing a post-M&A consolidation, implementing OBIEE or Hyperion, or simplifying your EBS footprint (or more), reviewing and recognizing common Oracle project management failures and their respective best solutions can ensure that your projects succeed in 2016 and beyond.
Here are some specific and common reasons why Oracle projects fail, including advice on how to prevent them in advance.
